Family DentistryWe invite you to make our office your dental home. Establishing your family at a dental office is valuable for the following reasons: provides a location to keep your health and dental records, prioritizes preventive care, and allows a place to go for emergencies. We can also adapt care that is sensitive to family values, help reduce anxiety, and facilitate referrals when necessary.Children and Youth Dental caries (cavities) is very common among children and youth and truly preventable. Approximately 78% of all 17-year-olds have at least one cavity. As a part of childhood, children and youth may have many injuries to the head, face, and neck. Frequently, the child is in need of urgent dental care. By establishing your children in a dental office, you will know who to call and where to go both for routine dental care and emergency care. Wouldn’t it be nice to be an adult and to have “no fillings!” Adults We are living to be much older than previous generations and requiring our teeth to withstand the test of time. The adult dentition is subject to mainly three diseases: dental caries (cavities), periodontitis (gum disease), and occlusal disharmony (grinding or TMJ). If not treated in early stages of the disease or diseases, you may require extensive, costly, and timely dental work to save your teeth. If you are missing teeth, it is important to consider replacing the space with an implant, bridge or partial denture. We value discussing your options so that we can make informed decisions together to maintain or improve the health and appearance of your teeth and gums. Older adults In our practice, we are mindful of dental conditions that generally affect the aging population. For example, many medications cause xerostomia (dry mouth), periodontal disease, root caries (decay on the root surface), and oral and pharyngeal cancers. Lack of routine dental care for an aging adult unfortunately leads to more restorations, periodontal treatment, extractions and dentures. For older adults that are currently wearing dentures it is still important for the dentist to do an exam once a year. We enjoy answering your questions. For more information,
